Pro Player

My friend, Steve, was laid off recently. He joked that he expected it and was not surprised that he got the axe. Those who still have jobs in this bad time are the ones who surprised him! It’s funny that he could make light joke of the situation but then this guy has always been happy go lucky.

Steve told me that since the employment market is so poor right now, he might as well take a break and enjoy it while it lasts before he goes searching for a job. He is confident that he would be able to find something that he likes to do when the economy turns around.

Meanwhile, Steve says he will try his luck in online casinos. He said that he watched a movie recently where the lead character was a professional player and if he could earn some pocket money playing games online, he would forget about looking for a job. He doesn’t even need to turn pro! I wish I was as confident as him!

Gosh, I thought I am too old to love cute stuff anymore and then when I chanced upon this website of Hello Kitty, I fall in love with her all over again! You see, I grew up with Hello Kitty and had plenty of Hello Kitty collectibles as well. I think part of the reason many of us girls love Hello Kitty was because of all the pink!

Today, I chanced upon the website of Sanrio, which owns Hello Kitty and am glad to say that there are some freebies and many activities to play. I know, these were made to cater to children but I think parents could help the children to play as well, right? These would make awesome family activities.

My sister recently bought a second hand Nintendo DS Lite. At first, she told me that she wanted to buy a new one but then not long later, her friend wanted to sell hers as she wanted to upgrade to a blue limited edition Nintendo DS. My sister was very happy to get her hands on a PINK Nintendo DS Lite, which even though is a second hand unit, is in excellent condition.

My sister told me that now she has some savings since she spent a lot less on a second hand unit, she can now use the US$75 Amazon credit that I gave her on games for her Nintendo DS Lite. I was like, “NO!!!” I know I told her that the money is hers but why should she spend it on games when she could download them? That’s what my friends do.

I have to admit, I am never good with numbers. A couple of years ago, my sister introduced me to the Japanese number puzzle called Sudoku. I tried to play it but could only solve the easiest puzzles, giving up on the more difficult puzzles.

This morning, I discovered something called Wordoku. This is similar to Sudoku, except that we use letters to form words, unlike Sudoku which does not make sense to me at all. Hehe!

While browsing around looking for freebies, I chanced upon this website called Jig Zone that provides us with free online jigsaw puzzles. There is a good selection of jigsaw puzzles with different levels of difficulty and we could even time our solve times.

I didn’t have time to check out the site thoroughly yet because one would need Java applet installed on the computer in order to render the puzzles and I do not have Java installed on this desktop computer.

Anyway, I think that the jigsaw puzzles on Jig Zone would be suitable for children and adults alike. I remember how I loved solving jigsaws when I was a kid, though I only had one puzzle but I played it over and over again. Right now, I am so delighted to know that we could actually play jigsaw puzzles online!
