Valentine’s Day Screensavers & Wallpapers

It’s Valentine’s Day and what have I found for you? It’s Valentine’s Day screensavers and wallpaper from ScreenSavers.com, the leader in screensavers and desktop wallpapers!

What do I like about Valentine’s Day? It’s all the pink and red colours. I just love them. Personally, I do not use screensavers because I am ALWAYS required to look at the screen, there is no chance at all to use any screensavers.

However, I do change my desktop wallpaper regularly. Since my computer is switched on almost the whole day and night, I love sprucing up my desktop with a different image and surprise myself when I first turn on the computer monitor. Sometimes, I don’t even remember that I have new wallpaper, that’s why!

The only thing I do not like about downloading wallpaper from ScreenSavers.com is the toolbar they force us to install and a desktop shortcut to an affiliate. Awâ€¦ come on, I am sure they can provide these to us totally free?

For The Love of Reggae & World Music

If you have read my old posts, you would know that I have been searching for sites that offer free music. Gone are the days of downloading songs from the internet, unless we want to risk being fined or jailed. Looking for quality original music is not easy but looking for free original reggae music is harder still.

This morning, I was told about a free reggae community site where members get to share their love for reggae music. Contributors are required to register with the website at http://www.versionist.com and although it is free, a minimum $4 contribution via PayPal to the site is much appreciated.

If you just want to listen to great reggae music, you don’t even have to register. I was even able to download the mp3 files to play on my computer or iPod. I think that Versionist is providing an excellent platform for aspiring reggae musicians and music lovers to share the love for reggae and world music.

Like I mentioned earlier, Versionist is a community portal so you can expect to find blogs, forums and sharing of photos and videos by members, apart from music. I checked out a couple of blogs and it is kind of cute that the blogs have the same layout as the homepage and forum.

If you are a blogger who started a blog independently, you would appreciate how difficult it is to bring up the blog from scratch, building traffic, loyal readership and ranks. However, if you join a Blogging Community and start your blog from there, it will be a lot easier because of the ready readership and traffic among members.

Two months ago, I was introduced to a blogging community at http://www.thoughts.com/. On this portal, once you register an account with them, you will be given a free blog where you can easily create your own space online, sharing your thoughts on anything that catches your fancy.

Each new post is given the necessary exposure with a link from the homepage of thoughts.com under Recent Blog Posts and your posts can also be easily searched via cloud tag. You can also be featured in the member’s photos section. All these are very important features that will bring you readership. Let’s face it, it does not matter how good you write if nobody reads it, you know?

If you are up to more networking, Thoughts has a very active forum where you can socialize and link your blog from your signature. Make use of the free space for photos by sharing your photos with readers. I notice that readers like to see photos of the bloggers. Perhaps this makes them feel as if they KNOW the blogger.

Facebook Favorite Games Application

I wrote in a post not too long ago that I have had friends sending me invites to join them on Facebook. When Facebook was newly launched, they adopted a closed door policy where you can’t know what’s happening with the site unless you sign up.

To be frank, I don’t really want to join another social site because I don’t use these sites and only log in when I receive a private message but with all the invitations to join, I feel like I am snubbing my friends so I may succumb to the pressure.

A few days ago, I read that Facebook is very addictive. There are many applications that we could add to our profile like the Favorite Games application.

If you have read my other blog, you would know that I am someone who gets easily addicted to games. As it is, I am already spending too much time playing games. If I were to set up a profile on Facebook, I could add this Favorite Games to my profile to track all the games that I have played, am playing and would like to play.

I could also track other people’s game profile and this is the best way to look for interesting games to try out and buy instead of searching everywhere on the internet for news and reviews. Oh, oh… there goes my resolution to stay away from games!!!

Shall I sign up with Facebook yet? I am trying to hold off as long as possible!
