Free Skins & More From EZSkins

Honestly, what would we do without skins?? I have skinned so many of my applications sometimes I don’t recognise it anymore Hahaha! Well, I do it because it could be boring facing the screen for such long hours for work or pleasure. I am on the computer for at least twelve hours a day, so you see…

I came across this website that has a wide selection of skins for WinAmp, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ, HotBar, Toolbars and many icons, screensavers, wallpapers and themes spanning sixteen categories.

When I had the time, I was skinning my apps twice a month! I really take my hat off to people who have the talent to create these. I only know how to use! By the way, I think all the work found on EZSkins are user submitted. Check them out if you are looking to spruce your apps!

Motivating Each Other

You know, sometimes I set so many goals that I lose track of them, and then they fade away without me realising and failing to achieve my targets. I read that in life, we have to set targets for ourselves to hit otherwise life will be so boring. Humans are such that they relish the challenge.

I came across this social networking site called Goal Setting 1 where members register for a free account and then list out their goals. The purpose of this social networking site is of course to expand one’s social network but also to motivate and encourage each other to set goals and meet them.

There are lists of goals that are most active, and also goals that are categorized for easy search. Some people have goals to lose weight; some have a target to save a sum of money a year, or to get a job promotion. Whatever it is, you can list them out and other members will leave you notes of encouragement.

Sometimes people need just that little push to be able to achieve something otherwise they do not have the motivation.

Free Legal & Insurance Advice

I am sure most of us have at one time or another required the service of a legal professional. When we sought them out, from my own experience, they really do not come cheap. They could charge $200 – $300 per hour and we could not dispute that as we are desperate for their help.

I believe this is the same for other professional services as well. I have friends who are doctors, architects, lawyers, accountants, etc. but when it comes to work, they expect to be paid.

So it is with much delight that I stumbled upon FreeAdvice. This is a no-obligation website that dispenses legal advice and on insurance matters. If you have a case, you can submit it to Free Advice to be evaluated by up to five qualified attorneys for free. Otherwise, you could search their forum and articles for case studies.

Apart from that, you can search for an attorney from their database location or expertise. But of course, we hope we never will be desperate enough to engage the services of an attorney!

Free BackUp Utility

The other day I downloaded a free computer backup program that I suspect gave me severe trojan infection. Well, I could not pin point it exactly but I know that after installing that program, my computer was crippled and it had to be sent in for repairs!

I complained to my friend about t. He asked me where I found that programme. He said there is an excellent resource site on BackUp programmes which I should have checked out first. Unfortunately, the program that I downloaded and installed earlier was not listed on this site!

Free-Backup.info has recommended a few back up software and other free software that are all certified to be 100% free from spyware, adware and viruses. Like my friend said, I should have checked out this site first!

PC Pitstop – Troubleshooting Your PC

If you have read my blogs, you will know that I was having issues with my computer, even after it was just formatted. I did not know what was wrong. The PC was running ultra slow and I could not access the internet even though my network shows that I was already connected to the internet.

I called up my friend for help but he said he was busy and that he is not technical support so I slammed the phone and went online to search for an answer. Thank god I have another computer at home.

I found PC Pitstop where one can read all sorts of articles or run scans and tests. Moreover, there is a community support forum where the more experienced members help out people with computer problems.

I learnt a lot in that afternoon. I actually found out that my problem was caused by Trojans. Another format did the trick!

Free Domain Name, Web Space & Hosting

Although I already have more than enough domains, I sometimes like to find websites that offer free web space and hosting because websites like these usually make web building easy with their ready made template so I could just send a redirect to the site that I built.

Today, I discovered 2ip.com and I was very happy because they provide free domain name, 100MB web space and hosting too. I filled out the form and almost clicked the submit button when I read the Terms of Service that the service is not available to residents of Malaysia and a handful of other countries. Bah! Can’t they write this upfront in bold before I filled out the form?

Anyway, although I can’t make use of it, I could still share my discovery with you all. The domain name that is free is actually sub domains but they are unique like biografi.biz or profil.tv

I think 2ip.com provides a great service and product for people just starting out to host their own websites. This is a great learning platform since you do not have to buy your own domain and hosting while you test out your website building skills.
