Matahati Designs Freebies

I was just surfing around this morning looking for some freebie or other when I decided that I should feature freebies by Malaysians. I did not have anyone in mind or any kind of freebie in particular but in the end, I decided to feature Matahati Designs today because of the cute layout. I know she bought it but it’s still cute.

Anyway, also because of the design, looking at the kind of freebies that Matahati Designs has to offer is a bit of a chore. You can’t see it in a single page because only post excerpts are shown. Still, if you have time to spare, it is worth going through the posts to look for Matahati Design freebies which range from free font to free layout to free paper pack.

Do take note that some items featured on Matahati Designs are for sale, so make sure to tread carefully around the website. Hehe!

Free DIY Printable Halloween Masks

Halloween is tomorrow. Are you ready for that? Of course, if you have children in the family, Halloween is so much more fun, right? Well, if you are doing last minute preparations, here is a website that offers free printable Halloween masks. There are only five to choose from but they are practical, easy to print and all you need to do after printing them is to cut two holes on the side to thread a string or yarn to hold the mask in place.

These masks would look great if you have a color printer with ink that does not smear. Like the website suggests, if you are throwing a Halloween party, you must print some of these out to keep on standby in case someone turns up WITHOUT a mask or costume. A simple DIY printable Halloween mask like one of these would save the night!

Free Slideshow Maker

Some of you may know that I participated in Exabyte’s Snap & Win Contest lately to try to win the prize of a Canon EOS 1000D DSLR camera. I took some photos of valid URLs from magazines lying around the house and submitted them but I am just not happy with the shots.

Over the weekend, I surfed around for free tools to enhance my entry to the contest and found this PhotoSnack slideshow maker, a fuss free website that allows us to upload our photos and turn them into a slideshow by selecting one of the preset layouts.

Uploading photos can be a pain. It took me almost half a day just uploading twenty odd images because I had to do it one by one; but I have to admit that the size of my images contributed to the speed. However, the finished result is awesome especially when viewing my slideshow on my new 20in widescreen LCD monitor. Check it out here:

PhotoSnack is highly customizable and what I like is that if you make changes to your slideshow, it will automatically be reflected in your slideshow that you have embedded on your blog or other social sites. You don’t have to embed a new script or make manual changes.

By the way, I will be updating my slideshow with new photos from time to time before the close of the contest and this is going to be my new entry to Exabyte’s Snap & Win Contest! Wish me luck!

DIY Homemade Children’s Halloween Costumes

Halloween is still ten days or so away and there’s still time to come up with your very own DIY Halloween costume for your children if you haven’t done so yet. Image the cost you will be saving if you have more than one child who require a Halloween costume. Imagine the fun you will have with the children putting their Halloween costumes together.

This website, DLTK’s, has a huge selection of homemade children’s Halloween costumes. Some of them come with photos and you could easily filter them from the long list of available costumes. But even if an idea does not have an attached photo, if doesn’t mean that you should pass up on the idea, you know?

I browsed through some of the children’s Halloween costume ideas and I have to say that the designers are really creative. If you have your own ideas, you are encouraged to submit them to the website to share with other users too!

Free Book: Kathy Lette’s All Steamed Up

If you love a light-hearted read, especially if you are female, or at least a male who would like to know more about women, this is the book that you should get your hands on. Apparently, it is the talk of town already because it is just too hilarious. It’s Kathy Lette’s All Steamed Up.

Click on the link that I have enclosed in this post to request for a free copy of splash proof All Steamed Up. There are a total of 10,000 exclusive copies to be given away. Although it is not stated, I gather that this freebie offer is only available to residents of the United Kingdom.

If you are not in the UK, worry not. You can still download a copy of the audio book and better still, sync it to your iPod or iPhone and have the book read out to you while you’re on the move. I’m downloading a copy as I am writing this post. :-)

Free Halloween Scrapbook Layout

In line with my previous post on Halloween freebies, I discovered this free Halloween scrapbook layout for you; well, that is, if you are a scrapbooking enthusiast. This website, actually, isn’t very visually attractive. There’s a lot of text and some advertisement but there are also lots of deep linking to the free stuff so you really need to read carefully so that you don’t miss out on the good stuff.

Besides Halloween scrapbooking layout freebie, Halloween greeting cards, Halloween bookmarks, Halloween party invitations, Halloween gift tags, Halloween letter papers, Halloween candy bags, Halloween bookmarks and other Halloween-themed freebies, you can also find other free arts and crafts elements. I just featured a Halloween freebie because it’s the season!

If you have any Halloween freebies to offer, do drop me a line. I’d be happy to feature your freebie offers on my blog!

Free Halloween Pumpkin Carving Patterns

Halloween is just around the corner and one tradition is to carve pumpkins. Although I love to watch people carve pumpkins, I never try doing it because I KNOW I will spoil the pumpkin!

In any case, if you are going to follow tradition, especially if you have young children at home, it’s a good time to start your pumpkin carving preparation now.

Pumpkin Masters is a very cute website and it is offering a few awesome pumpkin carving patterns for free that you can print and then transfer the pattern to your pumpkin to be carved. Just a note, be careful with the carving. Don’t allow young children handle sharp tools by themselves.

If you are carving pumpkins this Halloween, I’d be glad if you could share photos of your pumpkins with me. Happy Halloween in advance!
