Win One Year Free Domain

Ever since my WordPress hosted blogs were suspended three weeks ago due to server overload which caused my blogs to be offline, I have been looking for a new host. I shudder to think what would happen to my account if my post was on the front page of Digg.com!

As I was asking around for opinions of friends, coincidentally, I was informed of WordPress Blog Hosting services offered by Mulyoo. This is not your typical blog host like WordPress.com.

No doubt, Mulyoo blogs are also powered by WordPress but Mulyoo actually encourages bloggers to monetize their blogs and make money online. Moreover, Mulyoo uses BuddyPress to integrate social networking into blogs so that bloggers would quickly gain readership and followers. This is especially useful for people who are new to blogging.

Although new Mulyoo blogs are assigned subdomains, Mulyoo is currently running a contest where twenty lucky Mulyoo users who are subscribed to the annual plan will stand a chance to win a domain name for one year with NameCheap.

If you are planning to start a new blog, this is a very good chance to kill two birds with one stone. First of all, register with Mulyoo Hosting and select your subdomain. You will be able to easily create your blog within minutes and customize it from the thirty different blog templates to suit the niche of your blog.

GadgetLite Contest Giveaway

The author of GadgetLite sent me a message about a contest that’s running at the GadgetLite blog. Yes, you could do the same if you are running a contest, giving something awesome away, or know of a good deal or freebie on the web. But do use the Contact form instead of leaving a comment because those get sent to the Spam folder, which I never sieve through.

It looks like anyone could take part in this contest, anyone as in no matter which part of the world you are as long as you are a blogger or a blog reader.

The prizes given away in this round of contest (it looks like they have contests regularly) are:

Cyber Clean Cleaning Compound
iPhone 3G Wrappz and
2000 Entrecard credits

So how do you go about winning one of these prizes? That’s for you to find out by clicking on the link provided in this post. :)

2009 Man Asian Literary Prize

Although I write many articles and blog posts daily, actually have been writing since I was in my teens and even thought that I would love to be a published author and poet, it never came to be. I discovered that I just don’t have that creative oomph or even the attention to detail to see through a few hundred of pages of text that actually make sense in the end.

If you are a citizen and resident of an Asian country, aspiring to be a book author, you should check out the 2009 Man Asian Literary Prize. I understand that there is only one prize to win and its US$10,000 cash. How’s that to help you with writing yet another book?

Submission actually opened on 19th January, 2009 but they have just announced their panel of judges on 13th February, 2009. Closing date is 31st March, 2009 for work of at least 10,000 words. Complete submissions have to be in by 1st August, 2009.

Absolute Radio Freebies & Competitions

When I was in school, the radio was my best companion. I love listening not only to FM radio but also Shortwave radio where I could listen to radio broadcasts from around the world. However, once internet came into my life, my radio hobby died a natural death. This does not mean that I no longer love the radio, though. It just means that I have upgraded to streaming radio broadcasts online.

Anyway, if you love radio, you would know that radio stations run a lot of competitions. I have won many in my time too. Absolute Radio of the United Kingdom has many competitions and freebies on the website. If you are interested, you should check them out right now. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to win holiday trips, cash, electronic devices, concert tickets, music albums and many more.

I believe these contests and freebies are only available to residents of the United Kingdom. Urgh!

Dodger’s Olympic Lodge Contest

While looking for Olympic freebies and contests, I came across this website called Dodger’s Olympic Lodge. It looks like a really fun site that kids and adults alike would be entertained.

Dodger’s is the bucktooth doggie [looks like a doggie to me] and he and his buddy, Phil, are running a photo contest. What you will need to do is to look for a photo of yourself playing sports. if you don’t have one, go take on! Then download Dodger’s and Phil artwork, and paste these images on your digital photo. This means that you have to decorate your photo with Dodger and Phil, sort of like create a story in a photo of you, Dodger and Phil.

Submit your photo online and stand a chance to win a prize. Contest ends 25th August 2008 and ten winners will be selected on 2nd September and announced on 3rrd September, 2008, on their website. And the prize? A SIGG aluminum water bottle retailed at $25 each.

The bad news… this contest is only available for Canadian residents under 16 years old and with parent’s or guardian’s consent.

International Photography Contest 2008 for Kids

I have written on quite a number of photography competitions but if memory serves me right, this is the first time I am featuring a photography contest that is open for children only.

This international photography contest for kids is organized by National Geographic Society so you can expect high quality entries. However, according to the website, this is an international contest but as far as I could see, this contest is open to residents of the United States, Canada and a handful of international countries. To view a full list of qualifying countries, click HERE.

I think that thus contest will serve as a great platform for children who are interested in photography, or aspiring to be professional photographers. I wished that there were such exciting contests for me when I was a kid!

Free Scrapbooking Designs & Contests

You may recall me mentioning that my sister is into scrapbooking lately. She has not discovered the convenience of digiscraping so is still doing it the conventional way, buying material from the store.

I told her that she could get plenty of scrapbooking material online without having to buy and I believe I have come across many websites that offer free scrapbooking designs.

D.A.I.S.I.E. Company is just one of these sites that offer freebies to scrapbooking hobbyists and enthusiasts. No doubt, they are a commercial site and they sell most of these designs but they do have a few freebies to give away once in a while and also run contests where members could submit their scrapbook creations and win fabulous prizes.
